Good skiing friends 🎿 from Australia 🇦🇺 today for our Mountain Top Tour🚡

It was a very calm day with no wind, and we spent some time away from the crowded ski slopes on Saturday, relaxing in the quiet coniferous forest 🌲

There was a beech tree 🍃 near the bottom of the gondola 🚡station, and we talked about the “Southern Beech”(Nothofagus).
The meaning of the genus name of southern beech is ‘false beech, not beech’, but similarly in Japan 🇯🇵, the kanji for beech, ‘橅’ is ‘not a tree’
What are they then😂
So, at (or after) tea time today, I let them try some beech nuts 🐿

⭐️Beech tree in 🇯🇵and Southern Beech in the southern hemisphere are in the same order, but in different families. We won’t go into it here as it’s a long story, but pls ask our guide if you are interested😉

久々の山頂ツアー🚡
ご参加いただいたのはオーストラリア🇦🇺からのスキーフレンド🎿同士。
風のない穏やかな日、土曜日の喧騒を離れ、静かな針葉樹の森でゆったり時間を過ごしました😌

🚡乗り場にあるブナの木の話題になり、🇦🇺の南極ブナの属名(Nothofagus)の意味は「偽のブナ、ブナではない」だけど、同じく🇯🇵でもブナの漢字は「橅」(木ではない)なので、お前はいったいなんなんだ？と盛り上がったので、本日のティータイム(の後)には二人にブナの実を実食してもらいました😋

志賀高原は明日から☃️？☔️？なので、グッドタイミングのご参加ありがとうございます👍
