今回は神奈川県からいらっしゃったお客様をお連れして、生き物を探して森へ出かけました。子供たちのお目当てはトカゲやイモリや甲虫ということで、それらを見つけるためにゆっくり散策がスタート。
途中で見つけられたのは、熊棚、アズマモグラのモグラ塚、ヒミズの巣穴、枯れ木に這う名前の分からない虫たち、木肌に深く出来ていた真新しい爪痕、ノウサギのやカモシカの食痕やうんち、様々な形の松ぼっくりに、リスの残したエビフライ、絵が描ける木の皮などなど生きた生物はヒキガエルだけで、最後までお目当てには会えなかったのですが、多様な生き物の痕跡は感じることができたかもしれません。

I took guests from Kanagawa Pref.on a forest exploration, aiming to find lizards, newts, and beetles for the children. Although our slow stroll didn’t result in finding these specific creatures, we encountered many signs of wildlife along the way.
We discovered bear shelves, molehills made by Japanese moles, centipede burrows, unidentified insects crawling on dead trees, fresh claw marks deeply etched into tree bark, eating marks and droppings from hares and Japanese serows, various shaped pine cones, pine nuts left behind by squirrels resembling fried shrimp, and bark that could be used for drawing.
The only living creature we actually saw was a toad, but despite not meeting our original targets, the diverse traces we found perhaps let us sense the rich ecosystem of the forest.
