Snowshoe Tour, 5 April 2025

(English follows)

5 April ☀️
After a week, Saturday has returned — and so has the sunshine! Today’s Shiga Kogen was dazzling under a clear blue sky🏔️
Our guests were a lovely family visiting from Tochigi Pref. 🚄🌸🌾, here with one special request from their child☝️:
“I want to see a torii gate buried in snow!”

And so, off we went to Mt. Yakebitai 🙌
After taking the gondola🚡 up the mountain, we strapped on our snowshoes and set off toward the summit, where the torii⛩️ awaits.
“If you want to see it, you’ve got to find it yourself!” — with that, the young adventurer was promoted to captain🧑‍✈️ of the expedition.
Carefully avoiding tree wells🕳️ and tracking animal footprints🐾 through the snow, we suddenly heard: “I found it!”

There it was — the torii⛩️, now shorter than the boy himself, peeking out of the snow.
After a respectful bow and a brave crawl beneath, it was time for a picnic🍙

The boy measured the snow depth over a frozen pond (220 cm!), walked through tunnels formed by snow-laden trees, tasted freshly formed frost crystals, and even lay back on a snowy bed for a bit of cloud watching.

It was another magical day out, packed with the wonders of nature✨
